Music Issued to You
As a choir member you are not required to pay any membership fees or music fees. You will be assigned a choir number for music and a black folder for performances. Save your black folder for dress rehearsal and concert night. You will also be given a clear envelope for keeping your music in so that water damage is minimal.
Please bring a pencil to rehearsal. Only use regular pencil lead (not any other color or highlighter). If you are missing any titles, please contact me as soon as possible so that I can get the music to you if you have been skipped!
Often you will receive a piece of music that looks like a photocopy. It may be unpublished, an advanced copy while the original is on back order, or from the Choral Public Domain Library (cpdl.org ) or IMSLP. Whatever music is issued to you should be returned.
Personal notes should not be written on music or phone numbers or comments not pertaining to the musical score itself. We often borrow music from the University of Utah and Utah Symphony. These organizations expect minimal markings. Blank yellow paper has been provided for you to write extra rehearsal information on (memorization by a certain date, call times, etc.)
Returning Music & Black Folder
On concert night, return your music to your slot in the black boxes after the concert. If you forget or are unable to do so that night, you have one week to return the music. You may drop it off in a plastic bag at my house or mail it directly to me.
Late fees for music not returned within one week of the concert (with no communication to the librarian) are subject to a $50 fee.
If you will not be returning for the next season, your music and black folder need to be returned ASAP. Black folders with the embossed UCA logo are $60 to replace. Black folders without the embossing are $30.
Replacing Music
If the music that has been issued to you becomes lost, stolen, mangled, water-damaged, food-slopped, etc. you will be required to replace it. If you have become extremely attached to the copy issued to you or the music itself, purchase a new one and replace it before the concert night.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me by email ([email protected]) or cell (801-503- 8189). My address is 507 Sugar Plum Lane, North Salt Lake, UT 84054.
Enjoy this season with us!
